Lecture Announcement
United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) CIFAL Jeju |19 March 2026
The Digitally Inclusive Healthy Ageing Communities (DIHAC) study has been invited to deliver a lecture on Thursday, 19th March, 2026, as part of a regional capacity‑building workshop organized by the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) CIFAL Jeju.
The lecture, titled “Digital Literacy Strategies for Older Persons at the National, Local, and Community Level,” will be delivered within the two-day workshop Digital Inclusion for All Ages : Empowering Older Persons in the Digital Era.
Population is ageing rapidly across the world. At the same time, older adults are navigating the challenges of widening digital gaps in rapidly changing societies. While digital technologies increasingly shape access to healthcare, social services, and civic participation, many older persons do not know how to use the internet. In this context, empowering digital inclusion among older adults offer a potential pathway to addressing these challenges across different national and local contexts. This lecture will explore how digital literacy strategies can be implemented at the macro (national), meso (community), and micro (individual) levels. It will highlight policy frameworks, programmatic approaches, and community‑based practices based on the evidence from DIHAC study that strengthen the delivery of digital literacy training, ensuring that no one is left behind in an increasingly digitized society.
