25th Digitally Inclusive, Healthy Ageing Communities (DIHAC) Study Cross-cultural Exchange Meeting

Digitally Inclusive, Healthy Ageing Communities (DIHAC) is a cross-cultural study primarily based on Japan, the Republic of Korea, Singapore, and Thailand, further expanding to India. DIHAC is expected to expand to several countries through collaboration and networking. We organize bi-monthly cross-cultural meetings to create trans-disciplinary learning opportunities for researchers, professionals, and graduate students. Cross-cultural meetings focus on evidence, experience toward policy and implementation of healthy ageing and digital inclusion of older persons. DIHAC team will organize the  25th Digitally Inclusive, Healthy Ageing Communities (DIHAC) Study Cross-cultural Exchange Meeting on 30th October 2024.

The chairperson of the 25th DIHAC meeting is Dr. Daniel McFarlane, PhD. He is a Lecturer from Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, the office of Academic Integration for Society, Mahidol University, Bangkok, Thailand. Dr. McFarlane is a consultant to International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UN ESCAP). His research work in digital technology and communication is widely situated across many countries in Asia and the Pacific.

We are very honored to learn from two invited speakers. Speaker from Republic of Korea is Professor Yeong-Ran Park. She is currently the President of the Korean Chapter of the International Society for Gerontechnology. She has published research papers and books on the topics of long-term care, gender dimensions of aging, social network, active aging and smart care. Her primary research interest is in Gerontechnology and care. Her lecture is about empowerment of older adults in Republic of Korea highlighting the results from Korean Social Life, Health, and Aging Project (KSHAP).

Speaker from Malaysia is Professor Mohd Rohaizat Hassan of Epidemiology and Public Health Medicine Specialist, Department of Public Health Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, The National University of Malaysia.  He is the President of Malaysian Association of Epidemiology (MAE). He has been contributing to community-based research and program for public health through the decades. His lecture will be about how Malaysia is advancing community care integrating with improving digital literacy of older adults.

We are very glad to announce the upcoming 25th DIHAC meeting which will exchange evidence, initiatives, and experiences from ROK, and Malaysia cross-culturally. Participants are multi-disciplinary researchers, global health researchers, epidemiologists, sociologists, economists, medical doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, NGOs, NPOs, and PhD students from Japan, ROK, Singapore, Thailand, Kenya, China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mexico, Nepal, South Africa, Ukraine, Belgium, the Netherlands, U.S.A and the UK. We want to share this learning opportunity with our friends, colleagues, experts, scholars and researchers around the world.
