31st Digitally Inclusive, Healthy Ageing Communities (DIHAC) Study Cross-cultural Exchange Meeting

Digitally Inclusive, Healthy Ageing Communities (DIHAC) is a cross-cultural study primarily based on Japan, the Republic of Korea (ROK), Singapore, and Thailand, further expanding to India, Malaysia, Vietnam and Europe. DIHAC is expected to expand to several countries through collaboration and networking. We organize bi-monthly cross-cultural meetings to create trans-disciplinary learning opportunities for researchers, professionals, and graduate students.

The  31st Digitally Inclusive, Healthy Ageing Communities (DIHAC) Study Cross-cultural Exchange Meeting will be held on 29th October 2025.

The chairperson of the 31st DIHAC meeting is Professor Mohd Rohaizat Hassan, MD, PhD, Professor of Public Health Medicine, Department of Community Health, Faculty of Medicine, The National University of Malaysia. He is the investigator of DIHAC study in Malaysia and adviser of DIHAC. He was the former President of Malaysian Association of Epidemiology (MAE). He has been contributing to community-based research and program for public health through the decades. We are honored to welcome three distinguished speakers.

The first speaker is Dr. Thanakrit Chintavara, MD, PhD, First Executive Vice President, Special Affairs Big Data Institute (BDI) Thailand. He is an expert in healthcare management, data science and AI. He oversees national data initiatives in the BDI. He is also in charge of IT management of the Medical Council of Thailand. He will present the role of Big Data Institute in promoting and supporting the use of Big Data for economic and social development in Thailand.

The second speaker is Mr. Vira Tum, MBA, Executive Director, HelpAge Cambodia. He has over 15 years of experience supporting older people across health, income security, and policy advocacy. He has played a key role in strengthening grassroots organizations like Older People’s Associations and advancing national ageing initiatives, including the Cambodia Ageing Network and Yeay Ta Digital project. Mr. Tum will present on “Healthy Ageing and Digital Inclusion in Cambodia”.

The third speaker is book author Mr. Aki Higashi, Grade 9 high school student, American Embassy School, New Delhi, and former student of “Green School Bali, Indonesia”, whose international upbringing spans Australia, the US, Zambia, Sri Lanka, Japan, India, and Indonesia. Mr. Aki will share insights from his debut book, When She Forgot My Name – A Boy’s Journey with Grandma’s Dementia, a storybook based on his real-life experience.

We are very glad to announce the upcoming 31st DIHAC meeting. Participants are multi-disciplinary researchers, global health researchers, epidemiologists, sociologists, economists, medical doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, NGOs, NPOs, and PhD students from Japan, ROK, Singapore, Thailand, China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mexico, Nepal, South Africa, Switzerland, Ukraine, Belgium, the Netherlands, Italy, U.S.A and the UK. We would like to share this learning opportunity cross-culturally and interactively.
