DIHAC study cross-cultural exchange with University of Macerata, Department of Law, Italy: Meeting at Juntendo University, Tokyo
Tokyo, Japan — 17th June 2025 — The Digitally Inclusive Healthy Ageing Communities (DIHAC) study team, Department of Global Health Research, Juntendo University had the honor of welcoming Dr. Pamela Lattanzi, Professor at Department of Law, University of Macerata (UniMC), Italy, and Dr. Serena Mariani, Postdocotral Research Fellow in Agricultural Law, UniMC, during a visit to Juntendo University, Bunkyo-city, Tokyo.
The guests were warmly received by Associate Professor Myo Nyein Aung, Principal Investigator of the DIAHC study at the meeting room of the Faculty of International Liberal Arts, Juntendo University Hongo campus.
During the visit, the UniMC professors shared insights into their expertise in agricultural law and introduced current project “Smart solutions and educational programs for anti-fragility and inclusion (Safina)”. Italian experiences such as Italian legal framework on active ageing enacted in December in 2024 and the project of urban gardening for the seniors are shared and discussed. DIHAC study, Juntendo team shared the findings, growing network and international invited talks about the DIHAC study. Juntendo team also introduced the ongoing research projects of the Department of Global Health Research in Japan and internationally. Furthermore, two teams discussed cross-cultural Community Based Social Innovations (CBSI) and prospects for future collaboration.
Discussions centered around healthy ageing and digital inclusion, highlighting the role of intergenerational empowerment, legislative frameworks, policy guidance, and multidisciplinary collaborations. Another focus was the opportunities for student exchange to strengthen academic ties between Japan and Italy.
